About Our School
For Parents
The Lapeer Center for Innovation (CFI) is a unique building with a unique mission. We seek to be an educational research and development hub for the Lapeer Community Schools, a district focused upon student achievement. We strive to break the mold of “traditional” schooling, and finding means of stretching and challenging all students to reach their highest potential. We recognize that we live in a global economy that demands new and evolving skills of our students. This demands action on our part as a school to provide students with the skills and opportunities necessary to be highly competitive in an ever-changing world.
Our facility officially opened in the Fall of 2014 in the former Lapeer West High School campus. We are proud to be in a facility rich in history, but simultaneously excited to embrace the new culture of One Lapeer, home of the Lightning!
Programs housed and supported at CFI include the following:
The Lapeer Homeschool Partnership (housed at Cramton Campus): Elective courses to support our area homeschooling families
College on Campus: Opportunities for college credit in high school through partnerships with the University of Michigan-Flint, Mott Community College, and Baker College
Community High School: An alternative path to a high school diploma for students behind in credit or struggling in traditional school settings
The L12 Capstone Program: Project based learning and 21stcentury skills for our senior students
Lapeer Virtual (LV): Full and part time virtual coursework for students seeking an alternative to traditional instruction
Project Lead the Way: STEM coursework for students in grades 6-12 seeking to learn globally relevant skills and content in science, math, engineering, and mathematics
And this is only the beginning! CFI will continue to push to broaden programs and increase opportunities for our current and future students. If you have questions about our programs or wish to learn more, please contact us at (810) 667 2423 or stop by our main office.
