male high school basketball coach

Lapeer Community Schools is proud to announce the hiring of Jack Chittle as the new Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach for Lapeer High School.

Chittle will start his new role immediately.

“It is hard to put into words how excited and honored I am to be the fourth head coach to lead the Lapeer Lightning Basketball program,” said Chittle. “It has been a goal of mine for a long time to coach Division 1 basketball. The fact that I get to do it at a place that I love so much is overwhelming. I cannot wait to get to work with our student athletes to start to build the program back up and to make people excited about Lapeer Basketball again.”

“I’m excited to announce Jack Chittle as our varsity boys basketball head coach,” added LCS Athletic Director Shad Spilski. “Jack has an extensive background in the game and a wealth of knowledge to pass on to our student-athletes. I have no doubts that Jack will immediately connect with our boys basketball players and will reignite our tradition of basketball excellence here at Lapeer High School.”

On the court, Chittle was the North Branch High School varsity coach from 2022-24 and also held the same role at Montrose High School from 2018-22. Prior to that, Chittle served as the Goodrich High School JV head coach from 2015-18 and was the JV assistant coach at Davison High School from 2012-15. He also coached JV Football at Goodrich.

Chittle has been at LCS for five years, first as Dean of Students at Mayfield Elementary School from 2019-20 and then Dean of Students the last four years at the Zemmer 8/9 Campus. He is currently the JV Football and JV Baseball head coach as well as the Varsity Football wide receivers coach.

A 2012 Davison High School graduate, Chittle is engaged to Taylor Blaine, a 2017 Lapeer graduate and former athlete, and the couple will be getting married on New Year’s Eve 2024.
