On May 15, CFI hosted the first Adulting Day where local businesses and organizations met with junior and senior students to teach common life skills that aren’t necessarily taught within our curriculum.
The League of Women Voters met with students who are 18 or close to 18. Students also had an opportunity to register to vote.
After the Senior Luncheon, the Adulting Day sessions began as students took part in four 40-minute segments.
Those community organizations that took part included:
ABJ & Associates, Amy Jack – How do I do my taxes?
Lapeer County EMS, Mike Cleaveland – What do you do if you are choking, bleeding, or see someone having a seizure?
Lapeer Police Department, Seth Parsch – I’ve been pulled over. Now what?
Security Credit Union, Denise Klein – Banking 101
Primerica, Fred Walz – Retirement, investing, managing money
MSU Extension, Jennifer Evenson – Stretching your food dollar
MI Works, Scott Beattie & Holly Brynes – Where do I find a job?
Hamilton Community Health Network, Tim Carron – How do I get health insurance if I don’t have it?
